SCI-FI is a UK-Indonesia research project focused on delivering sustainable, affordable cooling solutions for small-scale fisheries.
In many coastal communities, limited access to cold storage leads to significant post-harvest losses, reduced incomes, and wasted resources. SCI‑FI aims to address this by developing and deploying renewable-powered cooling hubs that support fishers, strengthen livelihoods, and reduce environmental impact.
Bringing together partners across the UK and Indonesia, the project combines engineering, social science, and community engagement to support a just and low-carbon energy transition.
